This situation here is why I've been ogling all these thistles lately, and honestly part of why I got the flash. I shot this just tonight but it's too good to leave it in the backlog.

These are Nemognatha nigripinnis - brightly colored, like many blister #beetles, and a little gruesome because they're brood #parasites of bees. Strangely 90% of the flowers I looked at had none of these, but one area about half an hour's walk in had dozens.
