I almost forgot what is perhaps the pinnacle in terms of interconnections between parallel dimensions: the Oracle of Ages/Seasons!
Each game offers a great challenge on its own, but what's more, the two games are also connected to each other.

@brandoncarey That makes perfect sense: Your cupboards must be a portal back to your alternate self's dishwasher. They take the clean dishes out and put dirty ones in. Therefore you only find something clean when the other you hasn't finished emptying the dishwasher.
I do have a dishwasher. But now I imagine an alternate me doing all the hard work and I feel sorry for myself. All this #paralleldimensions stuff is emotionally very complicated.
So, the current thinking in my house is that -- in a parallel dimension -- my alternate self puts dishes into a dishwasher, which is actually a portal to our dimension. I don't have a dishwasher, so the dirty dishes then appear in my sink. Grumbling, I wash them (eventually) and put them away. Of course, my cabinets are *also* a portal back to the alternate dimension, so alternate me gets his dishes back, spic and span.
