Pansori .

One outstanding Korean drama made me understand how precious Pansori is.

In our country people are active using the name Pansori, doing all kinds of things never mentioning it' s origin anymore.
Buddhist sessions, medical theories how important it all is.
Publishing magazines and books.
Claiming they are exporting their wisdom to...Asia.
My impression is , it is all for the money in the end.

" Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born" , 2024.

Looking back on last year.
For me, Jeongnyeon stands apart from the rest. A drama with music, song, dance , in such an intense way , as Pansori allows. Telling a story on top of that.

There are more kdramas with music in it, but I can't recall one on this level.

It is in the classical way reminding of great old Hollywood musicals.
Almost Opera.
But this is Korean 🙂

Yesterday I was at #123Seollal, a local expo event on #SouthKorea
Different performances on stage all day long, but this duo was truly mind-blowing!

The traditional singing is called #pansori, the instrument #hageum and not only this Korean folk music is mixed with #hiphop and #kpop beats, but the crowd gets to participate too after a quick briefing 🤩.

The energy was incredible ❤️
