We are happy to invite interested parties to the second talk in our new cycle of hybrid #Bioinformatics Seminar hosted jointly by #CEITEC and Faculty of Informatics at the Masaryk University Brno, Czech Republic.

Our online guest today will be Andrea Guarracino from University of Tennessee to talk about his work on #pangenomes

The webinar starts today (Mar 19) at 4PM via an MS Teams link (click the title) available at:

IV106 Bionformatics seminar

We will host guests, mostly online, in the seminar in Spring 2025. Between the public seminars, students will prepare their own presentations for class only. The themes for student presentations this semester will be i) bioinformatics approaches to non-B DNA, and ii) bioinformatics for long-read sequencing and structural variant detection. Public seminar guests will be shared with a “sister seminar” at CEITEC, described here: The Bioinformatics Seminar is a seminar series organized together with the Faculty of Informatics in the interdisciplinary fields of Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, and Computational Biology.

Self-teaching web app improves speed, accuracy of classifying DNA variations among cereal varieties

Agricultural Research Service and Washington State University scientists have developed an innovative web app called BRIDGEcereal that can quickly and accurately analyze the vast amount of genomic data now available for cereal crops and organize the material into intuitive charts that identify patterns locating genes of interest.
