Portrait of my wife.
Portrait of my wife.
Another knife painting. This one in acrylics, also using oestrogen patches embedded in the surface using acrylic resin. The scratches - are they the wind or my frustration? This was a place I thought sacred and the location of family reunions since I was a child. Then when I transitioned my family grew cold and distant so I stopped going. This painting is my dealing with those emotions.

Another knife painting, painted during lockdown when this was the constant view from my back bedroom window. Trying to capture the dawn light spilling over the houses at the back of the house.
Oil paints again, this time applied using a palette knife. A study of a glass vase and two small bowls.
The technique is completely different from brush paintings, and is usually done in one sitting.
I couldn't tell you which lake this is based on, but for today's #ArtAdventCalendar, I offer you a #PaletteKnife painting of a lake shore somewhere in the Lake District, painted some years ago during a course in #PleinAirPainting. This one wasn't - too rainy, we retired to the studio with photographs, and painted what we wished for!
