What is the "dumbest" phone that will run #OwnTracks ? I need to buy a phone for a kid, and ideally I'd want a non-smartphone, something like a Nokia 3210. No youtube, no web, no social media. I would really like it to run OwnTracks though. I've read some "dumbphones" run versions of android, like the Keyphone, or the Mudita Kompakt. Does anyone have experience with this? @owntracks

Also ich habe mich gerade nochmal mit dem Thema Anwesenheitserkennung beim #homeassistant auseinander gesetzt. Lange rede kurzer Sinn. Anstelle der Home Assistant App kann man einfach #owntracks verwenden. Das erzeugt wieder ein Gerät welches man einer Person zuweist und dann geht alles sein Gang.

Notwendig war dies, weil ich nur die Minimal Version der Android App verwende (F-Droid).

Vielleicht hilft es ja noch anderen :)

Anyone know how to get a track out of #OwnTracks recorder into a GPX file with timestamps?

Inspecting the track page let me figure out a page to request a geojson file from, but it doesn't have any time information in it :(

I know this sounds contradictory, but is there such a thing as a #dumbphone that runs a privacy respecting version of #android, similar to /e/OS? I'm planning to buy a phone for a kid, and I was originally looking at a #Nokia3210 or something similar. No apps or internet access. But then I wondered if a compromise existed. Specifically, it would be nice to be able to setup #owntracks on the phone, for location sharing, and maybe a few other useful apps, like #comaps. Does such a device exist? 🤔

Has anyone managed to get #OwnTracks running with container manager on their #synology #nas ? I plan to (try to) use it with @tailscale , if possible. Reading the owntracks quicksetup guide. but it only mentions VPS. Would be sweet if anyone has seen a guide suitable for newbies like me. #selfHosting Seems to be at least some frustration on the matter: https://github.com/owntracks/talk/issues/253

@Ramonsta72 danke, das werde ich wohl mal machen mit dem Account auf einer Instanz. Ich hab noch gar nicht näher geschaut, wie viele es da inzwischen gibt. Das Thema hatte ich jetzt länger beiseite geschoben.

Bei Clients hatte ich an so Dinge gedacht wie #overland oder #owntracks, die funktionieren z.B. auch mit #dawarich

Wenn ich was sinnvolles ausgetestet habe, werde ich es hier teilen.

Hat hier jemand im Rahmen des #DIDay/ #UnplugBigTech schon #Swarm (Foursquare) mit #Owntracks ersetzt? Sieht für mich etwas kompliziert aus. Also jedenfalls komplexer als einen E-Mail-Provider zu wechseln.
