AshtonI haven't seen a Critical Mass in #Ottawa in about a decade, and this is really great and important.
As our city becomes more dependent on car culture (cuts to public transit and bike lanes/paths, and increased investments into new and expanded vehicle infrastructure), actions like this are helpful for the survival of cyclists. It's also community building that can eventually physical defend cyclists on the road or lobby City Hall.
If you drive, don't kill cyclists.
Jacob KrichLearned today why the bike lane flexiposts on Percy St are so beat up. The garbage truck had two wheels in the bike lane and two wheels in the street, driving over every single flexipost as it picked up the trash. I know flexiposts are supposed to handle that, but some clearly do not come back straight or back up at all.
Is this the way garbage trucks are supposed to treat the bike lane?

Does anyone know whether the Percy St underpass under the 417 is open to bicyclists? The city website says itβs closed until Halloween but does not list bicycles/pedestrians as affected. It was closed to cycles earlier in the summer, so Iβd love a report, if anyone has one.
