Last year at the Open Science Retreat (#OSR24NL) I have been introduced to nanopubs by @egonw and created my first nanopub declaring citations for a paper using CiTOs (citation ontologies).

Now, travelling to #OSR25CH, due to issues with the train network foreseen with plenty of time, I used the opportunity and created a new one ( https://w3id.org/np/RAicq7k9QHX8EG8ho7Baib9GxHsU18O0tyFCZ4tbbGGPA ) for my latest publication on teaching #Snakemake on #HPC systems.

The teaching material is — again — in desperate need of additions and overhaul, but that is for another day.

One of the things from this year that I'm most proud of is the guidance document that we set up during the #OSR24NL retreat, and that I took back to our faculty to actually implement it! We are not at the implementation stage yet, but the guidance document went through several rounds of feedback, which has led to some changes. So it was time to upload a new version on Zenodo:

Still a lot of work to do, but happy where I left this.

Recognising Open Science practices at the Faculty of Applied Sciences

This document is based on a previously set up guidance document and aims to provide guidance that can stimulate taking into account Open Science practices during assessment interviews (such as annual reviews). The document was revised with the Open Science Team members, and discussed in the Management Team of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Delft University of Technology (the Netherlands), after it was further improved. This version will be used in future Open Science Team meetings to ensure the guidance is more targeted and practically actionable.  Note that this is currently not an active or officially endorsed document by the faculty!

@Jeroenson @OpenScienceNL So, the real question will be, what the "remaining part" and "target oriented" actually means. When I was in Noord-Holland in spring (#OSR24NL), I was envying my Dutch counterparts. I sincerely hope that this feeling lives on.

continued, second part:

"Your wrote to XXX without taking me in cc. that she should mention a link with available data.

thisis an unusual practice in our field, and we will not do it."

I clearly have been in touch with the wrong people recently: #osr24nl 😜

@egonw Hoi Egon,

I dunno. During #osr24nl you were the first to introduce me (and others) to #nanopub s. Before this event, I never heard of it. Of course, nanopubs are more than CiTO support. But from this intro to knowledgegraphs and more is a long way.

I really would love to see CiTOs and more established in my field(s). Yet, as a support scientist with a life, adopting and spreading new techniques is always a challenge.

Even though my time to teach is limited too, I would love to have ...

Selection of summaries of some of the collaborative work during Open Science Retreat 2024, the Netherlands (#OSR24NL) & list of contributors of those participants who gave their ORCID for the contributor list

Artefacts/outputs from the 2nd edition of the Open Science Retreat (#OSR24NL), hosted from the 25th to the 29th of March, 2024 by the Dutch network of OSC’s (OSC-NL; www.osc-nl.com) . This took place in Schoorl, the Netherlands. During this week people from various disciplines came together to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices related to open science. This module contains a selection of summaries of some of the collaborative work during Open Science Retreat 2024, and a list of contributors of those participants who gave their ORCID for the contributor list.

@laborjournal

@egonw is right in his conclusions (IMO). So, is Mr. Neumann, when stating that we should not focus on measures, from which we meanwhile _know_ to be dysfunctional.

So, when we talk about measuring and awarding #OpenScience in practise, you might want to contact people who have done some work about it. A good starting point might be https://www.researchequals.com/collections/mrhg-9r - a summary to the Open Science retreat this year. #osr24nl

So many things came out of the Open Science Retreat this year! 🤩

A bot that shares learning resources, a guidance document for staff assessment, and speculative fiction are just a few examples.

Doubtful:

These are just data points, no strict falsification of your hypothesis. Yet, you certainly remember the sticker "Science without open is just anecdote" from #osr24nl, right? There IS lots of solid research and more than in the past (we have more and bigger institutions after all). There is a lot of noise (fake, fraud, empty papers), too. As for the ratio over time: 🤷‍♂️

Two weeks ago, the Open Science Communities (OSC-NL) hosted the incredibly inspiring, productive, and enjoyable Open Science Retreat 2024. Read our blog about this great collaborative effort and the lasting impact it has on nationwide change here: https://openscienceretreat.eu/blog/ #OSR24NL
