I was once in a discussion with policy makers about giving better loan terms based on walkability. Good idea. But they were measuring it as a straight-line radius. Draw a circle, count what's inside.

When I looked at the actual pedestrian network, the story is quite different! Not everything is accessible. Private roads, a highway with no crossing, cul-de-sacs forcing you around the block.

I ran this analysis for four cities using #OSMnx + #OpenStreetMap = 💜

@dequbed now and again I have tried playing with geotiff encoded elevation data (I want to add elevation to #OSMnx graphs...) but I have a hard time getting them then I usually fail making it all work :-S

Can you point me to where I can get some of the images you are using?

@thijs_lucas ja, neben der Unfall-Cluster-Analyse mittels DBSCAN habe ich #osmnx genutzt, um Unfallorte Kreuzungen zuzuordnen. Und aktuell für ein Projekt, um Fußwege an Bahnhöfen und deren Barrieren zu ermitteln. Großartiges Projekt!
