"#Birds, #bats, #bees, #butterflies, #beetles, and other small mammals are integral pollinators whose natural activities sustain our ecosystems. However, many people fill their gardens with over-hybridized plant varieties that have been bred for their ornamental value. #DoubleBlooms, exotic species, and other engineered qualities — while pretty — create plants that are difficult for all pollinators and can be detrimental to local habitats when cultivated in large numbers (like pollenless sunflowers).

"Maine Master Gardener Volunteer #JohnFromer will discuss varieties of flowering plants that are both beautiful and valuable to our local pollinators, give examples of non-pollinator friendly flowers, and provide tips for growing these in the #Midcoast region.

"This talk is part of the Rockport Library’s Spring Horticulture Series in partnership with Merryspring Nature Center."

One of a small number that I managed to finish last year is this remake of a long unfinished vector drawing that never quite felt right.

My vector art is a process of meditative experimentation and play. Intentionally arranging and re-arranging different vector elements until they have a sense of symmetria about them.

I have hundreds of pieces in various stages of completion and numerous variations of finished ones. Filing and naming conventions are an absolute nightmare for me. As is titling finished work.

Hi Gardeners and fine #fedi people. I'm Cam. Happy New Year!

I hope to be able to make the #fediverse my home over the course of 2026 after wandering in the social media wilderness over the past several years since abandoning the main stream.

I'm an old graffiti writer/artist still raging against the dying of the light but I don't paint as much as I would like to anymore. I still sketch outlines so I may share some of these alongside older pieces from time to time.

As a Graphic Artist I'm an explorer of ornamental and decorative art. I use traditional and digital tools to produce original and existing graphic elements for use with letterforms, symmetric art and patterns as well as mandalas. I started making this type of art using Adobe Illustrator and Affinity Designer but am currently putting time into learning Krita and Inkscape.

Although I'm self-taught for the most part I did do some time in the formal art/design school environment but learned far more painting walls and trains at night in the 1980's and 90's.

I haven't really been sure about the direction my art is going over the past year or two, so I'll be posting some older finished and unfinished pieces for a while until the road becomes clearer.

This is a vector drawing I finally finished in late summer last year.
