I do! The excellent #Orgro is a mobile app designed to manage an #OrgMode document. Powerful and straightforward.

I don't. #Emacs GUI is consistent across platforms (sometimes that means it is a bit misfit to a specific desktop style, but that's okay) and Org adds good presentation to the #PlainText.

Speaking of Org Social, a big yak shave concurrent to this release was org_social_mastodon_bridge, a tool that takes an Org Social feed and syncs it to Mastodon:

Other Org Social feeds can be easily opened from Open URL. If you copy the URL first, it will be auto-filled.

In fact if you open the official Orgro feed https://social.orgro.org on a device with Orgro installed, it will open in the app and you will find links to other posts (https://host.org-social.org/andros/social.org#2025-08-14T09:11:00+0200) and mentions all work as expected.

Cheers to @[email protected] (https://host.org-social.org/andros/social.org) (creator of Org Social) for such an interesting project.

Orgro 2.3.5 is now available with these changes:

- Remember URLs in β€œRecent files” list
- Try to open URL links to Org files in the app
- Bug fixes

That doesn't look very impressive but it actually makes Orgro a minimum-viable Org Social (https://org-social.org) client!

Org Social - Decentralized Social Network

A decentralized social network that runs on an Org Mode file over HTTP. Simple, accessible, and you own your data.

@marlinz008 I thought about such an experiment as well with one very particular use-case: mobile capture.

I was using #Orgzly Revived which has its issues with larger Orgdown files and this overcomplicated sync cascade causing Syncthing conflicts all the time.

I was using it for read-only access to my Orgdown files + mobile capture in one inbox file.

Then I started with #Orgro in parallel just for the capture process so that I don't rely on Orgzly's ultra slow sync process to finish on each capture.

Since Orgro has very weird behavior with shared content (basically I wrote Elisp functions to fix the format for all different kinds of capture content types), I thought about vibe-coding my first Android app just for the capture process in a text file in the format I want.

Not high on my prio list. Let's see how that goes. #ClaudeCode is removing features or adding very annoying stuff so I might as well end up with no proper #AI to do this.

Orgro 2.2.4 is out on all platforms with these changes:

- Paste images into the editor to link/attach
- Other minor improvements
- Bug fixes

A bit more about image pasting:

- On Android, inserting images from the keyboard is also supported!
- The Org file has to be stored somewhere that Orgro can write to
- Orgro also needs directory permissions; it will prompt you if necessary

Orgro

A mobile Org Mode file editor and viewer

I've been intrigued by #OrgSocial so I thought I'd set up an official social.org file for #Orgro:

https://orgro.org/social.org

orgro.org is hosted on GitHub Pages and unfortunately they serve .org files as Content-Type: application/vnd.lotus-organizer of all things πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« Browsers seem to treat this as a binary file and just download it directly. It seems like there's no way to customize how it's served.

Org Social's nice preview works, though:
