An local organic farmer leaves a box of in-season vegetables by the door just about every Tuesday. One guy in Japan refers to this has "subscribing" to vegetables the way you might to a weekly magazine or the newspaper. It's a delightful system. I don't know the name for half the vegetables that are in season and arrive now but I just fried them all up with some garlic, onion, a little salt, then pushed the fried veggies around to contain two Silky eggs until they were solid enough to flip. I piled the fried, softened veggies over the flipped eggs to sort of steam the eggs, I guess. So I had a healthier dinner than I would have. Going to stores to shop is a pain so I usually just buy stuff that will last along time, like onions and potatoes. There's no pressure to use them quickly and they're always there when you need them. So I end up eating mostly onions and eggs, but thanks to this subscription I eat healthier when a box of veggies arrives on Tuesday. I have to remember to fry the quarter of Japanese squash. it's sweet and tasty if you slice and fry it right. I've been too lazy to use the rice cooker and make Miso soup and stuff like a civilized person. but a little box of hard tofu from the local grocery store and half a bag of Kimchi from the Rainbow Family festival made for a surprisingly satistfying dinner the other day. I had some Kikurage mushroom stuff from another event too. With all that and a beer I imagine it's enough nutrients for anyone. Later at night if there seems to a need for more protein to rebuild the ax and hamer muscles an icecream and yogurt mix can fill the gaps and send your blood to the weighted down stomach to help sleep come...
