Rimane non risolta, però, una questione strutturale: che, in Italia, a stabilire che cos’è pubblicazione scientifica e che cosa no sia il governo o una sua sempre più diretta emanazione. Il fatto che sulla scientificità di ORE, dopo precedenti diversi, ci si avvii a cambiare idea è un dettaglio che non muta il quadro.

The post by Johan Rooryck really resonates with me, for several reasons.
Yes, lots of innovation and quality in small publishers! And in Digital Humanities, #DOA is all but a niche: it is the default and in itself a matter of prestige (at least in my view).
Call me an optimist, but my hope would be that #ORE, rather than crowding out the smaller players, will help normalize Diamond Open Access in the sense of the tide that rises all boats.
