A little late to the ordo amoris debate.
From St. Augustine's, "City of God", chapter 22: blue highlight shows where Augustine delineates an order ("ordinately") of love; yellow highlight is his establishment of the phrase; and red highlight is where he presents an example of love, bifurcated into an order -- a love of others and a love of God.
It can't be any clearer that JD Vance doesn't understand the very phrase he used.
