Gripe of the Day
-----------------------------
Amaysim, an Optus retailer, used to be a fun company until Optus bought them out. Since then they've become quite irritating, sneaking the monthly price up, cold-calling, endless offers for Internet that's not available here. Recently they upgraded the phone plan without notice or choice from $15 to $25/m - knowing there was nothing cheaper to churn to.
Optus brains trust has for some reason sort of backtracked. Complaints? Bad press? While this latest time-waster is welcome, it's ntl both confusing and pissing me off.
And yes, of course, accepted. The sneaky part is a downgrade to no international calls for a year. But never make them, so...
TIL: Mobile Service Provider in Australien (müssen?)

As part of our device testing, we've identified a number of older mobile devices that are not correctly connecting to the Vodafone mobile network to make Triple Zero calls, when the customer’s primary mobile network is unavailable.
A while ago I whinged here about Optus, who had leaked my personal info in 2022. They had cancelled my passport for “online verification”, and I only learnt why that was important when wanting to update my security level in the Aussie government ID app.
I called them; they said I was too late to claim, and that they’d only give me account credit anyway (I’m no longer a customer), and then said they’d call me back and they didn’t.
So, I wrote a complaint letter…
