The Open Security Conference 2025 is over. It was a blast. It was great co-organising it and to receive so much positive feedback.
One feedback especially stuck with me (paraphrasing):
"I wouldn't have come if you hadn't specifically invited me. I was very sceptical. How can a conference without a schedule work? Who will speak there? What topics will there be discussed?
This scepticism is gone and I'm convinced. I'll definitely will be back next year!"
Some participant AFAIK made short videos about their experience (and their surprises)
The scepticism is totally understandable if you don't know or never experienced an Open Space event.
We don't have big names to advertise the @OSCo (there are only two keynotes with a name attached at all)
There is no list of topics which will be presented (participants will speak about the topics they are interested in. And the hip topics during the creation of the schedule might not be the hot topics during the event)
This sounds confusing if you only know traditional conferences. But what I can basically guarantee is that you will be surprised (in a positive way :-P).
If you know the expression Hallway Con and Open Space is maybe best described as #HallwayCon on steroids. It leaves out all the hindering scheduled presentations leaving the entire time available for dialogues arising by serendipity.
