I just stumbled over this ticket: https://github.com/orgs/opencloud-eu/discussions/730
And I simply can not resist, sorry. I hear from time to time people complaining about #NextCloud that it is so bloated, needs a database, etc On the other hand #OpenCloud is so beautiful and minimal without a database. And now I read that I need a build-in LDAP for my 2 users at home, seriously?
As a side note: also the missing database is more a marketing thing than technical reality. As I learned this year at FOSDEM from a OpenCloud talk, they have a cache to enable fast indexing, search etc (basically a in memory database). The fun part, every time you restart the service this cache has to be rebuild, crawling all your files. Might be not a issue for home users with a hand full of files, but have fun if you want to run it in a large environment.

jetzt im Live-Stream bei den Chemnitzer Linux-Tagen 2026: OpenCloud - eine einfache und stabile File-Cloud, die man selbst hosten kann.
Today I Installed #OpenCloud and completed my move away from Nextcloud.
I'm really happy with it.
Nextcloud was by far the most frustrating application I've self hosted. If there was a way for Nextcloud to be annoying, it would do it.
Been using #Immich for a while and it's amazing. That's replaced Memories.
Recently started using #Joplin. That's replaced Notes.
Set up some shared calendars with symlinks in OpenCloud's #Radicale add-on to replace Calendar and Contacts.
