How do you rotate text 90° to the left in #Gimp in 2026?
Simple answer: You don't.
All the deceptive click-bait tutorials I can find online either use the rotate tool which is a destructive operation and converts the text layer into a pixel layer, or they use the context menu which can only rotate 90° to the right, not to the left.
Will I get to see a version of Gimp which has an actual useful text editing tool within my own lifetime?
Probably not.
This is what I get for ditching my discontinued proprietary image editing software in favor of an arguably well-known #OpenSource alternative which has been around for ages.
And it still can't do the most basic everyday things after all those years.
I'm seriously astonished how some open source fanatics mock the average user for being stuck on proprietary software, when a lot of the popular OSS alternatives out there are still just plain garbage in terms of usability.
If you want people to adopt OSS, maybe start building OSS which doesn't suck.

Privacywashing is real.
Big Tech wants you to believe your data is safe, while their business model still depends on collecting it.
- Private mode does not equal real privacy
- AI tools train on your input
- Settings often create a false sense of control
Real privacy requires conscious choices, not marketing promises.

What happens when you add server names, add more nodes to the cluster, or want to add specific connection restrictions when setting up Patroni? The routing layer handles that, using HAProxy.
Shaun Thomas wraps up his 3 part series on "Using Patroni to Build a Highly Available Postgres Cluster" with a walkthrough on adding HAProxy as the software or load-balancer layer that's compatible with HTTP checks.

Welcome to Part three of our series for building a High Availability Postgres cluster using Patroni! Part one focused entirely on establishing the DCS using etcd to provide the critical DCS backbone for the cluster, and part two added Patroni and Postgres to the software stack. While it's entirely possible to stop at that point and use the cluster as-is, there's one more piece that will make it far more functional overall.
Can Europe achieve #digitalsovereignty without isolating itself?
@tcarrez explains why #opensource as a global commons is key to resilience, innovation, and strategic autonomy, not “European-only” software, but stronger participation and investment.
