A while ago I upgraded my old #netbook running #op25 from #LMDE5 to #LMDE6 - I had to recompile OP25 and a couple of other small things to get it working.
But it has never worked as well as it did with LMDE5, so today I've decided to wipe the whole thing, and start over with LMDE5
I don't really need it connected to the internet, but was thinking about setting up streaming. I think it might be too slow do that correctly.

At one time someone was streaming the county out to OpenMhz, they have since stopped. So I am thinking about setting something up. I have OP25 installed and working pretty well. I am not sure I really want to completely change my setup and I know I don't want to add any more SDRs. So the question is anyone know of a good tutorial/resource for setting up #OP25 using a single SDR to stream out to say #OpenMhz ?

#SDR #streaming

I think I'll stick with #OP25 which works well on a really old netbook - and works with only one #SDR - Granted, I can only listen to one stream at a time, but really, it's kind of hard to listen to two conversations at the same time anyway.

Wanted to thank @k9swx for the video, and the introduction to sdr-trunk thou.

Thanks.!

Because I was hearing a lot of traffic from areas not really around me - I changed/updated my talk groups and blacklist for my OP25 setup.
I went from only 3324 talk groups blacklisted to 6085. A big change.
Also black listed some of the public works and public transportation talk groups. So I went from 636 TGs to 210. Now it's so quite.
I still hear a lot of squad/fire calls. But it's kind of nice to know I live in a pretty quite area, & not much happens around me.

After I finally got OP25 working on a raspberry pi - I went a little crazy. I wanted a portable version. And here are some attempts of some of my ideas....

I picked up the small SDR dongle from eBay for a few dollars, I didn't like a large dongle hanging out of the Rpi. Turns out it is really really bad, and very heat sensitive.

See description in the pictures for more info, I ran out of characters to fully document πŸ˜‰

"portable" Raspberry PI OP25 setup, I tried it out in the car this morning, it worked fine, the speaker was a bit hard to hear, but that is easy enough to fix. But I thought maybe it should be in something that would make it easier to carry....so I came up with this Ikea small box..... now I'm wondering if it will get too hot inside the box.

I attempted to get this to boot OP25 on restart, but keep getting an error that the software couldn't find a terminal, anybody know a work around for this?

Also I have a 7" and 10" screen that probably would make things easy to read, but also use a lot more power. I am honestly not sure I need a screen at all, except to start the software.

Adventures with OP25 - This is a Raspberry PI 3b, with just a CLI, and the legacy version of Raspbain - It installed OP25 with no problems at all. It probably would work better on a PI 4, but it works. The screen is pretty small, so it's hard to read (3" HDMI screen maybe 3.5") Battery powered, battery powered small speaker, and battery powered mini keyboard, lots of batteries LOL.... I have no idea why I had suck a hard time get OP25 working a few years ago. #OP25 #RaspberryPI #RPI

I'm going to need to get another Raspberry PI 4 soon, I am not sure I want to dedicate the PI 400 exclusively for the task of running OP25. But for now, it is working, and I am learning more about how OP25 works. And the control channel - Which is listed as being for my county, but seems to include some surrounding counties as well.
