I knew the opportunity to get on the roof of the Nieuwe Kerk was coming to a close (yesterday was the last day), so I decided to go last Friday.

It started off well when I hadn't even folded out my tripod entirely when a member of staff informed me tripods weren't allowed. Not that I could have actually used my tripod, as the floor was either somewhat flexible, or so flexible that you would have even felt an ant walking by. So cranking up the ISO and shooting out of my hands it was, and fingers crossed I had gotten something somewhat sharp.

Not going to lie, I definitely needed my photo editing software to get rid of the noise and to get this photo sharper, but all things considered, I'm not too dissatisfied. 🙂 Worth the € 7,50 admission fee and the effort of having to be in the Amsterdam city center that I have started to love to hate over the years. 😉

And here it is, the last photo that has something to do with Sail that I'll upload (for a while anyway). Taken at the Oosterdokseiland, where a number of ships were waiting for passengers to come on board.

Now that is something I should do at the next edition of Sail. Either book one of these tours, or try to befriend somebody with a boat in the meantime. 😅 But anyway, apart from the underwhelming fireworks shows, you have been great, Sail. See you in 2030!

During Sail, I have also been on the Belem. Compared to the B.A.P Union and Capitan Miranda, the Belem was a bit of a letdown.

Not an awful lot of atmosphere, the interior was alright but not necessarily anything to write home about, and it almost seemed like the crew didn't want any guests on board. At least the view from the Belem was a nice one to watch the other boats pass by. 😊

Nope, I wasn't done with the B.A.P Union yet. It's also looking pretty cool at night, even when it's becoming somewhat trickier to spot it in a long exposure of the Saturday evening crowds on the water. 😅

It's gone a bit invisible because of that orange and pink lit up boat in the foreground, but luckily the white and red lights help. 😊

I also quite liked the Capitan Miranda from Uruguay that's next to the B.A.P Union, in the right side of this photo. More about that tomorrow.

Lately I have already seen some posts from people asking we're slowly but steadily getting ready for autumn. To each their own ofcourse, but hell no that I'm ready for autumn. 🤣

The colourful foliage and foggy mornings obviously are nice, but the fact the days are getting colder and shorter, I don't want to think of that stuff yet. 😉

Anyway, whilst I haven't done anything in terms of last night's northern lights (it was raining around 11 over here, and I have to get up early for work the morning after anyway, so I couldn't afford to stay up until 1-2 AM before the show finally got started), I'll just continue with Sail. 😇

Of course the star of this edition of Sail could not stay behind in my collection. The B.A.P Union from Peru, and respect for its crew having climbed into the masts (and miraculously staying up there 😅).
