Did a bit more digging on this.
"Project North" is apparently part of the previous #OntarioSoccer strategic plan, which I've yet to locate.
However, I did read through the current strategic plan (2022-26). Among the governance goals is talk of amalgamating districts and improving the sub-OPDL player pathway.
This means there may be more districts changing form and potentially new/altered leagues. In the Northeast, maybe our own regional league?
No website is available for the new association yet.
Nor does there appear to be any information about "Project North" on the #OntarioSoccer website, beyond the Regional Director - North, Andy Charsley, heading the working group that is "looking at improvements to the governance structure."
I guess I just have to wait for the new site to go live.
I was browsing the #OntarioSoccer website when I clicked on the "District Members" drop-down menu and noticed the Sudbury Regional Soccer Association wasn't listed.
They amalgamated with three other Soccer Associations in Northeastern Ontario (Sault Amateur, Soccer North, and Soccer Northeastern) in September 2022. As of Jan 2nd, 2023, the new association is the "Greater North Soccer Association."
This is part of a "Project North" strategic plan.
