Too much of modern xianity counsels against mollification for anyone; it wants “men with chests” rather than those with a benevolent bosom.
How can you show benevolence to all?
Norman Macleod, Church of Scotland moderator, writes on the parable of the Good Samaritan. If you saw someone in a burning building, it’d be a crime to ask for ID first. Macleod applies this to both bodily and spiritual needs.
Material aid & evangelization seen as one coherent response. Today do some who excel at one end up being sarcastic critics of the other?
