Strict machine 1/3

Maker's plaque on a machine to do with sawing planks or some such. The veteran machine is fully functional but I'm always gaga for details like these rather than the business end.

What the heck is this?

This was found on the floor of our house. For context, it was built in 1923, California, stucco. We are doing some renovation work, so could have rolled out from the wall. Or, maybe from an old piece of furniture?

It’s approx 3.5mm diameter and 5mm long. Looks cast. Possibly bronze or brass. It’s a brownish metal, and not rusty.

Any ideas?
