The Classical-inspired Centre Street facade of the former Southern District Fire Station on Wallace Street in the Tradeston area of Glasgow. Designed by A.B. MacDonald, it was constructed in the 1910s. The tower in the background was for drying hoses. At the time it was built, fire hoses were made of canvas and needed to be hung up to dry after each use to stop them rotting.

Part of the 1916 former Southern Fire Station on Centre Street in the Tradeston area of Glasgow. I presume this section would have served either as accommodation for firefighters and their families, or offices.
