I wonder how effective these ads were? It would have been mostly the rich who could afford international travel during the Great Depression, and the Soviet Union might be the last place they'd want to go. Nice design.

A lost art: crate labels for fruit & veg companies

You've gotta stand out somehow, so these brands each tried something different from the usual scenes of sunlit lemon groves. All are from California in the early 1940s, most likely before US entry into World War II, except for Buckingham which is from the 1920s.
