"Monte Carlo racers traveling through #Bergen today. Will the snowfall in the south make it difficult for them?" wrote Bergens Aftenblad Thursday January 15, 1931.

Here we see Englishman Mr. Whalley's Ford being taken aboard the ship MS Tromsøsund, for a start in #Oslo. To not lose marks in the race, they would have to travel on an average speed of 50km/h through Europe – this car would have traveled to Helsingborg, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Bruxelles, Paris and Bourges, before the final rally around a track in Monte Carlo.

The snow might have caused problem, because Mr. Whalley did not win the race, and indeed didn't make it among the top 100!
