New study about aging. It suggests we don't just age gradually, but hit two sharp peaks of accelerated change – around age 44 and again at 60. The research tracked thousands of different molecules in the body and found major shifts at these specific times.
The changes at 44 involve things like lipid and alcohol metabolism, while at 60 it's more about immune regulation and kidney function. Interestingly, it happens in both men and women, so it's not just about menopause.

Humans Age Faster at 2 Sharp Peaks, Study Finds

Getting older might seem like a slow, gradual process – but research suggests that this is not always the case.

Well, I had a serious in-home accident & fell down the stairs in my 2 story home.

Fortunately, didn't fall face down. The main impact was on my chest. A lot of abrasion & bruising but no broken bones. No internal bleeding; no coughing up blood. Just a lot of upper body pain.😳

Feels a lot like then I broke my right collar bone motorcycling when I was much younger.

EVERY upper body movement hurts. I hurts just to cough but I know, from prior experience, that only time will help fix this.

So, I didn't bother going to the doctor to "assess" the situation because I already know (again, based on prior experience) what that is.

Time & rest is the prescription but this incident (age at 75) makes me wonder whether I should trade my 2 story house for a single story one one.

I just HATE the idea of moving again. Use to do all of the moving myself w/my full bed F250 but I think I'm beyond that now.

I just HATE the idea of moving again & HATE growing old. 🤬

Oh well . . . 🤷‍♂️

I'm old! I don't want to learn a new programming language, IDE, or paradigm. Just let me alone until I can be done with this and retire to a cave in the woods, grow out my neck-beard, and frighten nearby villagers. Thank you #programming #age #oldage #tired #shutthefuckup #ICEsucks #hermit

Also after four days off, I've been slightly plagued by a loss of time recognition. Fortunately, seeing my smartphone, I know I do not have visitors I need to cook for tonight, that's tomorrow night. It'll be tagliatelle with green pesto. Nothing special.

And something simple for me, on my own, tonight.

A quotation from Horace

Years foll’wing Years, steal something ev’ry day,
At last they steal us from our selves away;
In one our Frolicks, one Amusements end,
In one a Mistress drops, in one a Friend:
This subtle Thief of Life, this paltry Time,
What will it leave me, if it snatch my Rhime?

[Singula de nobis anni praedantur euntes;
eripuere iocos, Venerem, convivia, ludum;
tendunt extorquere poemata: quid faciam vis?]

Horace (65–8 BC) Roman poet, satirist, soldier, politician [Quintus Horatius Flaccus]
Epistles [Epistularum, Letters], Book 2, ep. 2 “To Julius Florus,” l. 55ff (2.2.55-57) (14 BC) [tr. Pope (1737)]
