Buffalos, as beautiful as they are dangerous.
They are one of the only animals our safari guide was truly afraid of, “… elephants are nice, they give you a warning to go away before they charge. Buffalos don’t bother, they just charge” he said.

Elephants need up to 300KG of food a day (per elephant). This keeps them in constant movement across their territory, sometimes far from water.

And they are so excited to find a body of water, when they are close, they can’t wait, they smell it and run to it, the small ones with even more desire than the old ones.

On their hunt of food and water, they shape their environment. Over 60 pct of what they comes out undigested, but broken down enough so other animals feed on it. Their manure is a great fertilizer. And as they walk they kill the old giving path to the new.

I am far from knowing enough about elephants, but the little I learned on this trip, I find fascinating.

In the Okavango Delta, Botswana, there is land for cattle, isolated from the land dedicated to wildlife.

However, Elephants don’t give a shit, and keep breaking the fence, and near the cattle land, cows and wild animals mix and feed together.
