This week's #ThursDeath is GOUTED CORPSE from Cleveland, Ohio. They have a couple EPs under their belt, one last year, and this one from this year- 'Blighted'. Great dynamics, riffs, growly but understandable vocals. Maybe some thrash and grind in there too. Excellent, grody rippers of songs on this one.

For #MusicWomenWednesday this week, a cool new find @wendigo and I have been digging- Cincinnati, Ohio's ELECTRIC CITIZEN. This is some great heavy psych rock/doom that has some Heart, Stevie Nicks, Patti Smith or Pretenders vibes but also a lot of Sabbath and Tull. Akron, Ohio's HISTOLOGIST just released new LP 'Deep Biopsy Needed for Necrotic Pathology' and this thing shreds. There's dynamics, some death metal breakdown creepiness, cool guitar tones, awesome drumming. Really great stuff all around.

This #GrindayFriday, a split. I featured Nyctophagia (deathgrind from Ohio) here in August 2024. Nyctophagia has a new split from earlier this year featuring them and Seeping Protoplasm from Tokyo.

Seeping Protoplasm are great on their own, and putting them with Nyctophagia here makes for a killer split. Not many splits where BOTH bands are amazing. 6 tracks, less than 12 minutes.
