Wie geil ist das bitte? Wenn ich unter @opensuse #Tumbleweed, #KDE und Dolphin eine Audio CD öffne, bekomme ich ein Dateisystem-Overlay, in dem ich neben den unverarbeiteten Audio-CD-Tracks direkt #FLAC oder #OggVorbis Dateien kopieren kann. Ich muss nichts selbst machen. Kein cdparanoia, kein lame, kein mplayer o.ä. Selten so eine großartige UX bzw. Vereinfachung gesehen!
(Ja ich weiß, Audio CDs sterben aus und maximal nützlich wäre das vor ~15-20 Jahren gewesen, aber cool ist es trotzdem)
So I've been thinking about #OggVorbis loop point support in the #BeckettEngine.
Technically, it's not the Beckett engine itself but a slightly modified SoLoud that lets me find this data. Regardless, I added LOOP_START support and I can add LOOPSTART and LOOP...
Any thoughts? Tags I missed?

Ich habe als #Linux Bedienoberfläche #KDE / #Plasma und dazu passend das CD Programm #K3B installiert.
Ich lege einfach eine Audio CD ins Laufwerk, öffne sie in K3B und kann dann die Stücke/Lieder einzeln oder als Verzeichnis in beliebigen Formaten, zum Beispiel #MP3, #Flac, #OggVorbis und andere irgendwohin kopieren.

I remember that a helluva long time ago, getting #iTunes to work with #OggVorbis files was mildly complicated. Hmmm... I wonder if iTunes app these days works better? Maybe even supports #Opus codec?
[Answer: Lol of COURSE not, also QuickTime for Windows is dead so good luck getting iTunes to work with Vorbis these days]

Most of the old music collection is actually in #OggVorbis format. I'm wondering if I should re-rip bunch of my #audiocds to #FLAC and re-encode them with #Opus codec.
...oh and there's actually a big pile of CDs that I've not ripped *at all!* ...it's near the end of the blessed year 2025 and guess I'll need to get me a CD ripper application, would you believe that. Hmm, I have an USB DVD drive for my laptop, but I'm kinda glad I didn't remove the DVD drive from the old junk PC, actually. Bet the CD ripper sitch and batch processing is still better on Linux.
Also the old exfiltrated collection doesn't have a whooole lot of recent #iTunes purchases either. And a bunch of #Steam game soundtracks. And...
...jeez, I've got a bunch of work ahead of me with this collection, don't I?
Which #Wizarding #audio format is most free and #OpenSource? This list is from some of the options available for export in #Audacity #AudioEditor. If there are others, would be interested in hearing about them.
