Macworld 1997. I was in this audience. Basically I remember a lot of old men in ponytails screaming, crying, and throwing up, decades before we'd coin that phrase. One guy beside me threw something. Pivoting from the world of performance art, I had been worried that working in tech couldnt match the fever pitch of the artist's life, but this day changed my mind bc the hysterics and drama were sublime.

I once worked at a place where they made me feel bad about not coding fast enough, until one of the designers asked me if I thought it was odd all the other coders always use the bathroom at once - even though it had only one toilet and no cubicles, then spill out afterward highly energized, fidgety and sniffling. They did write code much faster than me. It was spaghetti code that broke if you blinked, but there was lots of it and you never had to wait.

I once worked at a place that had embedded the Lo Fi Fidelity Allstars song Battleflag into a fundraising proposal, and just before presenting to a Christian investor, realized it says "motherfucking knees" In a panic they callled an emergency meeting. I sugested we 'just use photoshpp to change it to Jesus-loving knees' and they actually were so desperate that one director tried to put someon e on that task.

I once worked at a place where the fouhnder showed up in the office at midnight with a pretty women who clearly despised him. He had thought he was hiring a FSSW off the internet. Meanwhile the woman thought she was auditioning for a magazine shoot. An agency had placed 2 different ads and idk, expected them to not notice? It was not a skillful grift. He paid to fly her cross country. She threatened call police. He had to book her a redeye flight home same day. #ogDotComFollies #90sMagic

I once worked at a place where the CEO hired his mistress at the office manager. He then diappeared on a junket with a different girlfriend, and when his wife showed up wiht thier newborn looking for him after 3 days, the mistress didnt know where he was. Eventually the front desk received a package from Trump hotel (Plaza iirc?) in NY, containing only a pair of pants, which had been immaculately pressed by the concierge.

I once worked at a place where the CTO placed a backdoor into the flagship product "just in case" because she and her husband had been doing swaps with the other executives and there was photo evidence. It regulalry crashed the platform and no one ever tracekd down the source of the issue
