The northern #eveningprimrose, #Oenothera #parviflora (#Myrtales), is a #neophyte in #Europe, having been introduced from its original range, eastern #NorthAmerica, since the 17th century. It prefers nutrient-poor, #sandy #soils. S. Greiner & K. Köhl (2014) summarize the current knowledge on Oenothera as a #scientificmodel and #cropplant and discuss optimal #cultivation conditions.

My white #gaura finally blooms! 😍 They remind me of Mediterranean summers, because they grow like weeds in the south of France. Luckily, it's sturdy enough to grace my north-facing front #garden as well. Last year I had #flowers until the frost came. Hopefully it's the same this year, although after a very hot and dry spring, the summer has been very chilly and wet compared to last year.
