Upgraded my #openmediavault nas (on #odroidhc4 with #armbian) from OMV 7 to 8. This includes an update from Debian Bookworm to Trixie.

All i had to do was running 'omv-release-upgrade', wait a few minutes and reboot. Of course i made a backup image of the system sd card before.
I think upgrading OMV has never been so easy.

Today i moved my private #Nextcloud instance from an oldish quad core Atom Z8350 with 4 GB RAM to an #OdroidHC4 with an oldish quad core ARM Cortex-A55 with 4 GB RAM - and it now feels a lot faster.
Not sure if this is only due to the SSDs being attached via SATA now instead of USB3 or if the ARM-cores have some sort of hardware acceleration for TLS encryption that is missing on the Atoms.

Anyway both installation run a rather basic #Debian #Bookworm install - it's pretty easy to setup a small bare metall installation, no need for fancy stuff like containers to get your nextcloud instance up and running. And by doing a manual install you additionally learn a bit about how things are working.

Glad i finally made the move.
