In May 2016 the President of the United States signed the National Bison Legacy Act, making the North American bison the official National Mammal of the United States. 🦌#Minnesota #FossilFriday 🐂🦥🐴🐘🐪🐟🍃Remnants of deer and bison are common along many Minnesota rivers. Teeth, metacarpals, metatarsals, and some long bones withstand the erosive forces of rivers particularly well.
These specimens were all found during a single kayak trip this field season, along just a two-mile stretch of river in southern Minnesota.
