Destruction
When vision fails,
Direction is lost.
When direction is lost,
Purpose may be forgotten.
When purpose is forgotten,
Emotion rules alone.
When emotion rules alone,
Destruction… destruction.

Octavia Butler would have lived longer, but all of the time travel to the future so that she could get almost every detail correct took an enormous toll on her body.

Man I get worked up over stuff like this. #OctaviaButler is one of my favorite writers, and the thought of reading more of her work is tantalizing, but:
She didn't want it published. I can't love her work and not respect her as a person, that feels wrong.
Sure, she might have changed her mind if she was still with us now, but she's not here to do that, so respecting her original wish feels like the right call.
I'm not demanding that you shouldn't read it, but I don't think I will.
