I am trying to solve a problem with an instrument in a Nyquist score.

Pic A shows two drum beats played one after each other. When the drum beats are played close together in time before the first beat has delayed (pic B) Nyquist adds the sounds. This is logical enough, but it can mean that the overal level is clipped. Also a real drum does not act this way if it is struck a second time: the second beat is the same volume as the first as it cancels the previous sound.
