@lina I'd agree that you shouldn't have a single identity online, because you don't have a single identity offline, either.

Nobody "is the same person" while cuddling in bed with their spouse as when their boss says "come to my office", just to take a couple of examples.

@sun @zaitcev google+ may have "failed" but it was actually usable and did a lot of things correctly while it was around.

their primary fuckup was the #nymwars bullshit and probably also the forced integration with youtube. they should have not forced a real-name policy, and they should have allowed people to sign into youtube with google+ but maintained the distinction between a youtube channel and a google+ account

other than that, feature-wise it was unparalleled to this day
