MONTECARLO (MONACO) (ITALPRESS) – Jannik Sinner vince il Masters 1000 di Montecarlo 2026. L'altoatesino batte Carlos Alcaraz, con il punteggio di 7-6 (5) 6-3, in due ore e 15 minuti di gioco, nell'ultimo atto del torneo andato in scena sulla terra rossa del Principato di Monaco e conquista il 27esimo titolo della sua carriera. Ottavo titolo 1000 per l'azzurro – il quarto consecutivo dopo Parigi indoor, Indian Wells e Miami – che si prende anche, nuovamente, la vetta della classifica Atp. Dopo l'eliminazione in semifinale all'Australian Open e il ko a sorpresa contro Mensik a Doha, il 24enne di San Candido riesce nell'impresa di vincere Indian Wells, Miami e Montecarlo nella stessa stagione. L'unico a riuscirci dal 1990 è stato Novak Djokovic nel 2015. E' il secondo titolo sulla terra battuta per Sinner, dopo l'Atp 250 di Umago 2022, che centra il primo Big Title sul “rosso”, che nel 2025 lo aveva visto cedere proprio ad Alcaraz in finale sia agli Internazionali d'Italia che al Roland Garros. Manca la difesa del titolo Alcaraz, che tornerà in campo la prossima settimana nell'Atp 500 di Barcellona. A riposo, invece, nei prossimi giorni l'azzurro. “Non saprei come commentare questa settimana. Siamo arrivati qui per accumulare più partite possibili sulla terra battuta, soprattutto in vista dei prossimi grandi tornei. Oggi il livello è stato molto alto, soprattutto per le condizioni di gioco difficili, a causa del vento che continuava a cambiare”. Una vittoria che ha consentito all’altoatesino di vincere il primo torneo del 2026.
“Non c’è niente che non vada in Jannik Sinner. Lo abbiamo detto la scorsa settimana e lo diremo anche in questa, ma lo direte anche per Alcaraz. Ho letto da qualche parte che non aveva vinto nessun torneo nel 2026 prima di Indian Wells. Ma ne aveva giocati due, siamo a marzo“, sbotta Roddick, sottolineando che non c’era nessun caso Sinner.
