Today's simple* project: making my #Veritas plough plane blades discernable from each other, using the @stratum0 laser machine and MoS2 paste.

* (still took me three hours including all the setup and tests. And you can still see which blade I engraved first… 🥴)

Final sanding still took a good while, even though I was too impatient (and tired), and only wet-sanded up to 400 grit. I focused mainly on getting the edges straight, and break all sharp corners. So there are still some scratches left, but it will probably pick up new scratches anyway during use 😅

This was my first real #metalworking #BuildYourOwnTools project. I already love it. It is so smol, and I love the color combination of brass and stainless steel 🥰

We have taken every reasonable precaution but knew this day would come. Everyone is fully vaccinated and under doctors care. It sucks but a little less today than yesterday. See y’all with sawdust and projects soon. Longer videos too. Taking a break for a few days. #covid_19 #notwoodworking
My father in law has been painting discarded wooden chairs that he finds and giving them new life. This last one was kind of a DIY project because he sent us home with the upholstery pieces and asked me to finish it. It’s been nearly a year, but when we see him in a few weeks for his 90th birthday, I can report that the project is complete. #chair #upcycling #upcycled #diy #maker #notwoodworking
It’s too hot to work outdoors for prolonged periods right now. So, I’m splitting my time inside and outside. I’m catching up on paperwork and video editing but I also put up dill pickles (half sour by tomorrow) and I’m very serious about the #blueberry jam. #onmyworkbench #maker #making #heatwave #woodworker #notwoodworking
Yesterday I drew up a simple cabinet design on paper. Then I noticed that I want it a bit higher to get a better proportion for the door, and wished for a moment that I'd drawn it in CAD… But somehow I find pen and paper more accessible and also less… abstract(?) than CAD, and it fits better with my desire to make things with my hands, and use less computery tools in my free time.
So I guess tonight I'm just gonna draw it again.

Prototyping a wall cupboard for my hallway with cardboard. I think I'll let it hang there for a while and see if I accidentally run into it 😅
