According to a tracker, my biggest waste of time this year was reading the terrible Akagi (that took 20 years to publish!!). Here is the review to save your time:

Review: Akagi
Akagi (Mahjong Legend Akagi, アカギ ~闇に降り立った天才~), 1991-2018, Fukumoto, Nobuyuki, Kindai Mahjong STORY: 2 Meet Akagi, a young gambler who is not afraid of death! And.. that's it. We have a title purely centered on a single character and, despite the manga running for 27 years, the hero gets zero development! Akagi is just some mysterious, disinterested figure that appears when gambling stakes are high. He gambles on Mahjong, that tile game you must have seen if you […]https://mangaispolitical.noblogs.org/post/2025/12/16/review-akagi/
Manga Review: Crazy Food Truck
STORY: 3
Meet Gordon Goliath, a man driving a food truck around a post-apocalyptic landscape. He encounters the mysterious Arisa, a character defined by constantly being hungry and flashing her naked body. There’s other characters that are, without exception, stereotypes from the most generic manga, and they are not even worthy to talk about.
The strongest point of the manga is the cooking scenes. As for the story, it’s a mix from different genres but all the aspects feel so shallow, and sometimes lazy, that there’s also not much to care about.

Review: The Legend of the Strongest Man Kurosawa
The Legend of the Strongest Man Kurosawa (最強伝説黒沢), 2003-2006, Fukumoto, Nobuyuki, Big Comic Original STORY: 4 Meet Kurosawa, an average construction worker who feels he has not accomplished anything in his life. He is grumpy, awkward, envious and immature. We are following his routine of painful moments, as he fails at being respected, attracting women, or making friends. And the rest of his time is spent on frustration, as he keeps comparing himself to others, or to his idea a […]Review: Sakuranbo Syndrome
Sakuranbo Syndrome (Cupid's Prank II: Cherry Syndrome, Cupid no Itazura II, さくらんぼシンドローム クピドの悪戯II), 2006-2009, Kitazaki, Taku, Young Sunday (Weekly) STORY: 2 Meet Munenori Agawa, your everyday manga office worker. His life takes an 'exciting' turn when, for the sake of altruism, he has to french kiss a kid everyday! Here is how I imagine the story was born. One day in the editor's office, the mangaka Kitazaki Taku was pitching for his new series: "I have a […]https://mangaispolitical.noblogs.org/post/2025/06/18/review-sakuranbo-syndrome/
Review: Usogui
Usogui (The Lie Eater), 2006-2017, Sako, Toshio, Young Jump STORY: 4 Meet Usogui, the king of gamblers! He has an agenda and he is willing to bet his life to succeed. Along with his companions, his fate will cross a LOT of very colorful (read mostly psychotic) characters along Kakerou, a mysterious organization of game referees (and at the same time assassins because why not) that operates in the shadows of Japan. The story is a succession of high-stake 'games' that Usogui takes on to […]https://mangaispolitical.noblogs.org/post/2025/03/19/review-usogui-the-lie-eater/
