“ In April, former Google employees fired for protesting with #NoTechForApartheid, citing an article in +972 Magazine,[23] expressed concerns over Israel's current use of AI-assisted targeting in the Gaza Strip: a program named "The Gospel" categorizes buildings as military bases, while programs called "Lavender" and "Where's Daddy" identify and falsely classify Palestinian civilians as "terrorists" and track their movements for target selection.[24]”

Background: Amazon is providing the Israeli military with “endless” cloud storage holding surveillance data on nearly every person in Gaza — a trove that has been used to support airstrikes — while the company itself seems blissfully unbothered by its starring role in population-scale mass surveillance.

Background: A coalition of legal and human rights groups formally notified Microsoft that its cloud and AI services — which powered Israel’s surveillance and “kill target” systems in what’s been called the world’s first AI-powered genocide — expose the company and its executives to criminal and civil liability under international and U.S. law,.

Background: After workers demanded the company drop a Pentagon contract called Project Maven in 2018, Google introduced the AI Principles, guidelines to ensure ethical use of Google’s AI. Google, however, continued taking military contracts, and when they could no longer deny what their AI was being used for, they opted to drop the principles rather than the contracts.

Background: Protesters gathered outside the UN’s “AI for Good” Summit in Geneva to condemn the very companies sponsoring it — Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and others — for simultaneously supplying the AI and cloud infrastructure reportedly used in military operations in Gaza. Big Tech sees no difference between “Ethical AI” and war crimes. #techlash #Fired50 #NoTechForApartheid

Hi friends! I'm going to be cohosting a livestream event on Saturday April 18th from 9am - 6pm (Pacific Time)!

Event info and RSVP can be found here:
https://fired50.org/techlash/

As you may have seen or heard, 50 Google workers were fired 2 years ago after a sit-in protest at Google, including myself. Now we're taking Google to court.
We're expecting a long legal battle, so we put together a 2-year anniversary livestream fundraiser event.
https://chuffed.org/project/128294-support-the-fired-50-google-worker-legal-defense-fund

We've invited a variety of guests to speak, including researchers, unionists, activists, an author, and Kshama Sawant (former Seattle City Council). Full schedule will be on the event page soon.
I would greatly appreciate anyone who can watch, donate, or spread the word. We have a post on Instagram if you're on there:

Automated war-crimes powered by BigTech – why and how to resist, today 11am at #cablesofresistance

“With the example of the #Lavender targeting system used by Israel in the #Gaza genocide we explicate how systematically harmful Big Tech's infrastructure (#Google, #Amazon,#Palantir) is. We propose the labour movement such as #NoTechForApartheid in tech and academia as one angle to resist such use and also to fight #BigTech at large by collective action.“
