My father in law has been painting discarded wooden chairs that he finds and giving them new life. This last one was kind of a DIY project because he sent us home with the upholstery pieces and asked me to finish it. It’s been nearly a year, but when we see him in a few weeks for his 90th birthday, I can report that the project is complete. #chair #upcycling #upcycled #diy #maker #notwoodworking

It’s too hot to work outdoors for prolonged periods right now. So, I’m splitting my time inside and outside. Yesterday I drew up a simple cabinet design on paper. Then I noticed that I want it a bit higher to get a better proportion for the door, and wished for a moment that I'd drawn it in CAD… But somehow I find pen and paper more accessible and also less… abstract(?) than CAD, and it fits better with my desire to make things with my hands, and use less computery tools in my free time.
So I guess tonight I'm just gonna draw it again.
