Una fossa comune con oltre 150 buche, una accanto all’altra. Sono state seppellite così le 165 persone rimaste uccise in quello che è stato descritto come un attacco a una scuola femminile di Minab, città meridionale dell’Iran. Il funerale delle vittime è stato celebrato martedì: la televisione di Stato iraniana ha mostrato migliaia di persone che riempivano una piazza pubblica. Gli uomini sventolavano la bandiera della Repubblica Islamica, tenendosi per lo più a distanza dalle donne avvolte in chador neri.
Dal palco, una donna che ha dichiarato di essere la madre di “Atena” ha mostrato un’immagine stampata di ritratti che ha definito “un documento sui crimini americani”. Ha aggiunto: “Sono morti sulla via di Dio”. La folla è esplosa in cori di “Morte all’America”, “Morte a Israele” e “Nessuna resa”. Sul bombardamento l’Alto commissariato delle Nazioni Unite per i diritti umani, Volker Turk, ha esortato le forze responsabili – senza nominarle – a indagare e a condividere le proprie opinioni sull’“orribile” incidente. Turk ha chiesto un’indagine rapida, imparziale e approfondita. Il segretario di Stato Usa Marco Rubio ha dichiarato che le forze statunitensi “non avrebbero preso di mira deliberatamente una scuola”.

Lunedì il presidente iraniano Massoud Pezeshkian ha affermato che il suo Paese non sarebbe “rimasto in silenzio” dopo quelli che ha definito “attacchi” a una scuola e a un ospedale, attribuiti a raid aerei israeliani e americani: “Sono attacchi alla vita stessa. Gli attacchi alle scuole colpiscono il futuro di una nazione… Il mondo deve condannare questi atti”, ha scritto Pezeshkian su X. “L’Iran non rimarrà in silenzio e non cederà a questi crimini”, ha aggiunto. Né gli Stati Uniti né Israele hanno confermato l’attacco, spiegando che l’obiettivo sarebbe stata una base militare.

These were the 165 people who remained alive, buried after what was described as an attack on a girls' school in Minab, a southern Iranian city. The victims’ funeral was held on Tuesday: the Iranian state television showed thousands of people filling a public square. Men waved the flag of the Islamic Republic, keeping mostly at a distance from women wrapped in black chadors.
From the stage, a woman who said she was the mother of “Athena” displayed a printed image of portraits that she described as “a document on American crimes.” She added: “They died on the way to God.” The crowd erupted in chants of “Death to America,” “Death to Israel,” and “No Surrender.” Regarding the bombing, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, urged the responsible forces – without naming them – to investigate and share their opinions on the “horrific” incident. Turk called for a rapid, impartial, and thorough investigation. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that U.S. forces “would not have deliberately targeted a school.”
On Monday, Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian said that his country would not “remain silent” after what he called “attacks” on a school and a hospital, attributed to Israeli and American airstrikes: “These are attacks on life itself. Attacks on schools strike the future of a nation… The world must condemn these acts,” Pezeshkian wrote on X. “Iran will not remain silent and will not succumb to these crimes,” he added. Neither the United States nor Israel confirmed the attack, explaining that the target was a military base.
