CSC, SURF and Nokia Achieve 1.2 Tbit/s Data Transfer to prepare long haul network for new LUMI-AI supercomputer and AI Factories

CSC, SURF, and Nokia have successfully tested a high-capacity, quantum-safe fibre-optic connection exceeding 1.2 terabit per second (Tbit/s) between Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Kajaani, Finland with data traversing over 3500 kilometers. The trial demonstrated the potential of ultra-fast, cross-border connectivity for research.

Volgende week ga ik naar de #nordunet #workshops in #Kopenhagen. Ik heb er 2 uur aan besteed om de mogelijkheden die bestaan om er heen reizen en er te verblijven tegen elkaar af te wegen.

De voor de meeste mensen voor de hand liggende optie is om met de trein (of de auto) naar #Rotterdam #AirPort of #Schiphol te gaan en dan naar #Kopenhagen te vliegen.

Nordic NRENs #FUNET, @sunet & #Sikt continue the progress towards "Terabit to the Tundra".
Today the optical networks of Sikt and FUNET were interconnected at Skibotn (70' north).
