A recall has been issued for NordicTrack RW900 Rowing Machines due to fire and burn hazards. The screen console can overheat and ignite, leading to fires and burns. If you own a recalled machine, stop using it and contact iFit for a free repair and console replacement.
It really bothered me that my apple watch couldn't connect to my nordictrack rower on June 07 of 2023.
It still bothers me that it's one of those things that just isn't possible to do without effort.

TIL there's a Bluetooth standard called FTMS which does exactly something I've always wanted - control and monitoring of your treadmill (or other exercise equipment) from a remote device.
Why is this important? It means you no longer have to be tied to a specific fitness app or service when you buy a higher end treadmill. For me that's iFit for my NordicTrack treadmill and they want up to $40 a month from me. Others like Peleton are similarly priced.
