We set off to explore the region around Tromsø 🇳🇴 (Kvaløya, Sommarøy, Senja, Lyngsalpan) in mid-March, and what a beautiful region that is!

There was still a lot of snow, especially on the higher peaks, and that really defines the landscape.

The mesmerising Aurora Borealis spoiled us again during several nights and its reflection on the snow turned the whole landscape into a mix of green and purple.

Noorderlicht zoals wij het niet hier zullen zien. Maar toch. Een combinatie van een zonnewind richting aarde plus het Russel-McPherron effect zou er voor kunnen zorgen dat wij op 19 of 20 maart het noorderlicht in Nederland kunnen fotograferen of zelfs zien. Wie weet. Altijd de moeite waard om in de gaten te houden.

People by now are probably starting to get sick and tired of it, so let me add to the sickness and fatigue with another northern lights photo. 😜

The composition of this photo isn't great. The lens that I used wasn't wide angle enough to put more of especially the cheese farm on the right on the photo better, and I couldn't quite choose between the windmills and the cheese farm either.

Under normal circumstances, I more than likely would have thrown this photo away. But the northern lights change everything. 😅

But seriously, much like the night of the 10th to the 11th of May 2024, and to somewhat of a lesser extent the evening of the 10th of October 2024, the evening of the 19th of January 2026 is one I'm going to remember for a long time. 🙂
