This brush wash background was made in April 2025 during a visit to New York City. Lines have a distinct quality and language in my work. Its something that have been working on for many years. Forms always follow the lines. When the aim is to create forms the end result is another kind of language. The aim is always to find out ways for the two to work separately and together depending on the context.

Looking at this composition and then viewing previous ones from this year, my impression is that very often a solid and thick from emerges at the left side with more delicate forms emerging on the right. Realising this the impulse is to now try to avoid this.

Building a Poem-Fungal spores

In this series, just like in a poem, structure and rhythm play an important role, especially in this new work.
I’m deeply fascinated by the underground fungal network in the forest, of which mushrooms are the visible fruit. The spores of mushrooms have inspired me to create this work.
