Morocco is a beautiful country, but the people can be a bit exhausting. The Berbers in the mountains are wonderful, but in the cities it’s different - you constantly have to count your change because they give you less or “forget” to give it back 😅. There are lots of scammers, and when taking a taxi you have to agree on the price beforehand or ask them to turn on the meter - they won’t do it on their own. It really wears me out. I’ll come back here one day, but only for the nature.

I have to admit though, my hosts at the riad were really great. The first thing they told me when I arrived was what to watch out for 😄 They kept warning me about phone thieves on scooters and advised me not to take out my phone too often.

It’s my first solo country in Africa, and I have to say - the first experience wasn’t the best 😅 But Africa isn’t a country, it’s a continent, and I’m sure there’s still a lot of good waiting for me here ❤️

Introducing #devBnB. A concept. Where city developers can “book” coding opportunities to go to a farm or small village project in need of open source/hardware expertise to build farm solutions, federated power grids, rural traffic solutions, reverse-engineer proprietary shit.

devBnB

devBnB. Where city based hard- and software developers can book coding opportunities to go to a farm or small village project in need of open source/hardware expertise to build farm solutions, federated power grids, rural traffic solutions, reverse-engineer proprietary shit. Escape from the city. Build open source code. Feel nature. Experience small communities. It’s what you want. Admit it :) A weird idea, but who knows, sounds like a fun project! Wanna join? :)

Sometimes I think about what it would be like to travel the world by bike & living a nomadic life 🗺️🌎

Life would for once primarily be about
▪️moving,
▪️breathing fresh air,
▪️being soaking wet by the rain,
▪️drying in the sun,
▪️sweating,
▪️searching for water, food & shelter,
▪️sleeping under the stars,
▪️getting lost on your way,
▪️asking people for help,
▪️improvising when things go bad,
▪️making new friends,
▪️learning about new places & cultures,
▪️fundraising money for people in need of help,
▪️living a modest life on the move 🚲🏕️

Yet, for now, I’ll not go for it. The desire to live as a full time nomad is—amongst others—part of illusional self-deception. You can’t escape capitalism. Societal and personal issues will follow your path and catch up with you at some point. Depression will kick in after some months, this far too familiar feeling of emptiness will not miraculously go away.

Or, as Adorno once wrote:
Theodor W. Adorno, „Prinzessin Eidechse“, in: Minima Moralia (1946/47)

There are things I have to and want to experience before eventually leaving Europe. There are times to do things and not do others. Instead of traveling full time I’ll work on subjects my intellectual interest encompasses for the next 3 years 📚

Stay tuned, take it slow, and be part of team 161 🚩

as if there were not enough arguments for a #BasicUniversalIncome and coverage by a non profit oriented universal health insurance. look (also) at what this #COVID19 thing is only starting to do to people in #precarity, #nomadliving, #freelancing and #ART. for starters.
If someone has any experience about nomad living and housing and is willing to talk with me about it, I'd be grateful. Bonus points if you're in Europe (especially France), unable to work, a woman, trans and/or a PoC.
