Has anyone had screen brightness control issues when updating to #nixos 26.05?

I was testing the channel upgrade in #nixbook and on my tester HP Dev One (Ryzen 7), I lost backlight control, after it had been working for years on previous channels.

What could have changed? Please feel free to check out the logged issue and boost

@batvin3211 @killyourfm oh nice!! Yeah I know these.. that base is shockingly heavy!

I've def put #nixbook on them and it's done really well! Glad its running well for you!

(26.05 is in testing right now and looking good!)

@codemonkeymike I found very nice HP All in one at Goodwill for $20. Mistaken for a monitor or TV. I put #nixbook on it because it was running Windows 10, also I might give it away for $20 to get my moneyback.

Okay. So question for #linux or #security folks.

I want to set up a #nixbook (#nixos) computer set up as a public access computer.

I know how to harden the OS to avoid tampering. But how can I filter content? I'm already getting questions like, how can we prevent people from looking up inappropriate things?

How would you do it?

8 gigs of ram and 500gig SSD is def not the standard specs lol

Got a text: "Hey, do you want some iMacs?" — obviously I said YES. 🙌

These 2017 iMac 18,1s are fast, gorgeous, and built to last. Apple dropped support, so now they're "useless" to most people — but in ~10 minutes with #Linux and #NixOS, they become reliable, up-to-date computers for people who truly need them.

People assume I hate #apple , but really I just want the computers their building today to have this type of future in 10 years.

A plain nixos install is not suitable for my “mom”

Always a "fun" time replacing the hard drive in an iMac 13,2. Gotta love #apple #RightToRepair

Though, I still love these things running #intel chips and totally upgradable and running #NixOS #nixbook

Many many more years of life left thanks to #linux
