We'd like to share the following updates regarding the distribution:
- The next release of Nitrux, 5.1.0, will be available on Jan. 6th.
- The OTA update for Nitrux 5.0.0โ5.1.0 will be available on the same day.
- Unlike previous releases, NVIDIA driver updates are included in the OTA.

I love using Debian. I think it is so interesting that so many distros have been or currently are based on Debian. While I prefer vanillia Debian, I wanted to list all of the Debian based distros (non-Ubuntu) I know of and categorize them based on what makes them unique.
Daily Drivers (Ease of use):
LMDE - Linux Mint + Debian, no Ubuntu, Mint polish
MX Linux - MXTools is helpful
Deepin - Beautiful, preconfigured desktop, from China.
Peppermint_OS โ Lightweight, cloud integrated, snappy
Neptune - Polished KDE Plasma on stable Debian w/newer kernels.
SpiralLinux โ Pure Debian with modern defaults (Btrfs, ZRAM).
SolydXK โ Simplified XFCE/KDE desktops for stability.
Lingmo OS / Mauna Linux / Br OS - Recent, beautiful desktops (China/Brazil)
Modern/Atomic (Immutable):
Vanilla OS - Atomic updates, can run Fedora/Arch apps via Apx.

On the heels of updating our documentation about using WireGuard, we noticed that it'd be a good idea to make the process more approachable.
So we made an app, meet Wirecloak, built with MauiKit.
We've updated our tutorial, Filesystem and Security Features in Nitrux, with information on how to add a WireGuard VPN connection.

We've updated our Kernel Boot utility, and a new release is available: Kernel Boot v 1.0.0.
Making it safer to load the configuration file, improving variable robustness, usage feedback, variable validation, and error checking.
We've further improved Cinderward, our simple, no-nonsense, init-agnostic, Wayland-friendly GUI for firewalld, and released it as Cinderward v. 0.0.2.
The next release of Nitrux will include Cinderward (and thus, firewalld) by default.
Given that:
- Plasma Firewall practically requires Systemd; see: https://github.com/Nitrux/nitrux-bug-tracker/issues/191
- GUFW fails on Wayland,
- And, firewall-config is far too complex.

Nitrux is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu suitable for laptops and desktop computers. Nitrux provides all the benefits of the Ubuntu operating system combined with a focus on portable, redistributable application formats like AppImages.
